Jaimie Veale, Chairperson
Jaimie Veale is in her second term as chairperson and has keen interest in the issues that effect the trans community. Jaimie is training as a clinical pyschologist and has published several scholarly papers in the course of her advanced studies. Her site and links to her publications can be found at www..jaimieveale.com. Originally from the South Island, Jaimie has been involved with GenderBridge since 2003.
Max Lawson, Secretary and Treasurer
Max Lawson is another Mainlander and is starting his first term as secretary/treasurer of GenderBridge. With broad links in his community network, Max brings the skills of a manager to this important role. Max brings a new degree of professionalism to the role which will undoubtedly grow as GenderBridge moves forward. An articulate lobbyist, Max's blog can be found at http://maxximumimpact.blogspot.com/. Max is involved in several projects and works hard lobbying on behalf of our community.
Kelly Ellis - Media / PR
Kelly Ellis gets called "K1" to avoid confusion with the other Kelly Ellis on the Board. K1 was coopted on to the Board earlier this year and now starts a term as an elected officer with a media and PR focus. Trained as a lawyer and a journalist, K1 brings advocacy and promotional skills to the Board. A participant in the TransAdvocates project, K1 runs an active facebook newspage linked from www.transadvocates.co.nz.
Kelly Ewing Ellis
Kelly Ellis, not to be be confused with K1, is a new board member and works for the Auckland DHB. Hailing from Delaware, USA, Kelly has a BA in English and is a keen supporter of GenderBridge and the trans community. Kelly is a member of OUTline and works on their phone roster. Kelly is also part of the TransAdvocates law project and is a quiet achiever, working hard behind the scenes whether it's baking "gender bread people" for the Big Gay Out or helping with legal submissions
Allyson Hamblett
Allyson Hamblett is a long term Board member and is well known throughout the community for energy and commitment to lobbying in the health area and for legislative change. Not only does she bring a wealth of political knowledge and nouse to her role in GenderBridge, Allyson, already with a BA and a library diploma is becoming increasingly qualified in information technology and runs GenderBridge's website. She is also an artist and music writer. She is also involved in the TransAdvocates law project and runs its website at www.transadvocates.co.nz.
Kestin Stewart
Kestin Stewart has been volunteering in the Queer Youth sector since 2007, facilitating Rainbow Youth groups such as Gender IQ and the 18+ social support group. Currently he's the Secretary on the Rainbow Youth Executive Board. Being very connected to the Youth sector, he hopes to help continue the development of GenderBridge's outreach to trans youth and broadening diversity. Kestin trained as an Animator, graduating from the Freelance Animation School in 2008. He currently works for an Art Gallery on K'rd that specialises in digital media. He identifies as FtM and began transition in August, 2008.
